My girlfriends birthday falls on Valentines Day. Does birthday trump valentines? Or the other way around?

I tried to get the time share in Puerto Vallarta but it was booked, so its going have to be the second week in March.

Interesting question. I know people (adults even) who have a birthday that is shared with a holiday or within a few days of a holiday and they don't like the fact that people tend to lump it together and not acknowledge their birthday at all, or as it's own special thing.

I don't know if one trumps the other but whatever you do be sure to acknowledge her birthday with an actual birthday card, birthday wish, cake, whatever. And if she's into valentine's day then you'll also need to acknowledge that.

What if you gave her a homemade card to the effect of 'happy birthday to my favorite valentine" and did whatever you would do for vday plus include a birthday cake or birthday cupcake? Then tell her as a birthday gift you are taking her on a vacation in March.

I did and we had a great time in Puerto Vallarta, in spite of the federalizes being all over town. Cool Shocked

So I'm a little late responding to this, but my wife's birthday is the day AFTER Valentine's Day, so it's like a double whammy.

Her opinion: The birthday get the importance. What's Valentine's Day anyway? Just another fabricated holiday engineered by the greeting card companies...

The birthday is the one special day each year that a person can stake a claim on. "It's all about me!" Unlike Valentine's Day, Christmas, President's Day - her birthday is the one day each year that the attention is on her.

Want to make it a special day? Make it all about her. Pamper her, fulfill her needs, go out of your way to make it special. It's not about how much $ you spend, it's about how much time/thought you put into it. Want extras? Write a letter to her parents thanking them for bringing her into the world and raising her to be the special person she is now. She'll hear about it and while it may be embarassing to her, she'll still melt!

This year we are celebrating my wife's birthday late. We're going to a little b&b on a vineyard a few hours away after my semester is over. Just the two of us - 72 hours of ____, _____, and ______.

Very Happy

I have the same problem as you! Well my boyfriend's birthday is on the 9th and then there's valentines day! Well what I'm thinking of doing is getting this cute picture frame with out names on it and putting our picture on it, and i made him these sugar cookies for Christmas and he loved them, so I'm doing the same only making them hearts to give to him also. Another idea, putting notes to him all over, or in a box? I'm still not sure though. Just remember, he doesn't need anything fancy, he has you and that's probably the best gift of all. Good luck!
